Product Training: Flexible Conduit

Ep.16 – Weekly product training, this week we cover Flexible Conduit with Terry Harmer.

In the world of electrical contracting, every decision matters. From efficiency to safety, the choice of conduit can significantly impact your installations.  Flexible conduit is the go-to choice for electrical contractors seeking versatility and reliability. It offers unparalleled protection against a variety of threats, ensuring your wiring remains safe and operational.

Its ease of installation sets it apart from rigid conduits, saving time and labour costs while maintaining project efficiency and its flexible nature prevents abrasion and puncture, reducing the risk of short circuits and electrical hazards.

Flexible Conduit is available in various sizes and types, with different types of connections so it can adapt to your specific needs, whether it’s a commercial, industrial, or residential project.  And perhaps most importantly, it’s easily modified to adapt to evolving project needs, ensuring flexibility throughout the installation process.

What fittings are available?

For PVC-covered Steel conduit, there is the choice between Swivel and Fixed nickel-plated conduit fittings.  Both fittings are for inserting into a junction box or into a knock-out box with a lock nut.

The Polypropylene conduit required a gland which is available in 2 types, the hinged and the fixed.  Both types come with a lock nut which can be used in the same way as the Nickel fittings.

In conclusion, the benefits of flexible conduit – including protection against environmental threats, easy installation, and adaptability – make it an indispensable choice for electrical contractors seeking efficiency, durability, and safety in their installations.
